Fallen Star

Lying on the ground, head throbbing
Opens her eyes, looks up at the sky
Confused thoughts overflowing in her mind
Tries to sit up, head begins to spin
Aching body protests, injured from the fall
She looks to the shining stars, her sisters in the heavens
Daughters of the moon, glowing like fireflies in the summer
She begins to remember, like a memory long since past
A rip in the sky, a passage between Heaven and Earth
Curiousity grabbed hold of her, enticing her to look within
Stumble into it, plunging into the land under the moon
Where humans walk in the shadow of places forgotten by the sun
A dark place, not the grand world she was once led to believe
Shiver in her thin dress, hugging her pale, delicate frame
The pale blue of forget-me-nots, shot with silver like beads of dew
Barefeet sinking in the soft ground as she stands, trembling
Looks around, all alone, empty silence
Homesick and lonesome, tears sliding down her face
Notice something from the corner of her eye, a small movement
A bright-eyed doe, shyly walking towards the girl
Leading her into the forest, trusting each other entirely
The sounds of life drifting in the air, invisible but everywhere
Her spirit enchanted, her heart bursting with joy
So begins her life in the woodland, goddess of nature
Still faintly longing for her home in the sky
In harmony with all creatures, her love for the trees and flowers
Is enough for her, the star at peace on Earth
