The ancient tree stood weeping
Rooted to the frozen ground
"I'm all alone", she lamented
As she looked around
It only started as one
They said it would do no harm
But the axe just kept on swinging
And the forest lost its charm
Something this wise old tree had never seen
Greed like a hunger never sated
Unable to bid them stop
So she just nervously waited
Factories stood where trees once thrived
Underneath smoke-smothered stars
The animals all fled their homes
As they heard the roaring cars
At last when no more trees were left
Save for the eldest one
They came to her with hatchets high
Underneath the blackened sun
That's when a distant cry was heard
They all looked back in shock
A child hastened up to her
The men could only gawk
He refused to leave her side
The men began to anger
Tears fell from his innocent eyes
She sensed an oncoming danger
So she rustled her aching limbs
And down fell a golden seed
The very last of them all
He saw and caught it with great speed
Looking up at her with eyes of an angel
He turned and dashed off to nurture it
The men watched him leave, then looked back
They raised their blades and began to hit
She came crashing down, heard the men cheer
Mother of the forest, first and last of all trees
Yet at peace, placing her trust and hope in the boy
The hope that he may find untouched earth overseas
No doubt in her mind, her heart at ease
Knowing a fresh beginning is close at hand
The birth of a new life for humans and nature alike
For everyone a beautiful and clean land
Rooted to the frozen ground
"I'm all alone", she lamented

Sunset
It's quarter to seven, as I'm walking along the tired sunset.
And what a sky to fall into. Envy seeps into my vision.
As the sun embraces the intensity with full lips.
Anticipation. provocation.
It's bright red hand of a take over, Speaks-
In a million tender tongues. Each with a sliver
Of a ribbon of seduction. Elation and mystery.
The sun brings itself to it's warm knees,
As the glow becomes veiled and disappears.
The night will roll up so eyes will not see,
A play that certainly will make all of us,
Dream sweetly.
The sun is nonexistent as the sky burns a brighter red.
And the shape of it's hand slowly diminishes into the gray

Shattered Secrets
Think.
Can you understand this darkened soul?
Silent fears whispering in the wind...
Screaming of my pain, and my sorrow.
Do you understand the shattered pieces i hold within?
Listen to my voice.
Can you hear the tones of grief hiding in my laughter?
Invisible secrets buried in fog...
Chilling the earth that grounds, and holds me.
Do you hear their calls deep within in your heart?
Look into my eyes.
Can you see these thoughts that cross my mind?
Hidden regrets flowing from my eyes...
Glistening in the beauty of my pain, and my sorrow.
Do you see the splintered pieces of my once pristine soul?
Hold me tight.
Can you feel the pa

The End
life is fast and death is quick
hearts slow down and minds play tricks
bodies fade and souls lose hope
reaching for the past, hands grope
searching for what can't be grasped
words will weaken into gasps
broken thoughts and shattered dreams
bursting from us at the seams
fear takes hold, time slips away
we grow sicker day by day
the pain won't stop, the hurt stays strong
it's been inside us all along
but will it end when we all die?
and in the ground our carnage lies?
